Virtually odourless

While all fuels that burn will carry an odour of some sort, Tozane is considerably less odourous than the alternatives. It’s technically classified as a ‘ROLF, that is, a Reduced Odour Liquid fuel.

You may notice a slight smell when your heater starts off and again when it turns off, but otherwise it’s not noticeable by 99.9% of the population.

Safer to use

Tozane is safer to use than Kerosene and heating oil for a number of reasons.

C1 Grade

The first is that Tozane is a C1 paraffin oil. This means that it has been refined to meet specific safety standards. Grit, dirt and plastics have been filtered out, so burns cleanly, it produces only tiny amounts of sulphur, it produces only minimal amounts of smoke (if any) and it’s safe to store.

High Flashpoint

The reason Tozane is safe to store is that is has a high-flashpoint. This means that the temperature at which it can ignite is considerably higher than Kerosene or heating oil. If stored correctly, it won’t automatically ignite like Kerosene can.

Safer for the heater

Because other fuels contain dirt and other impurities, when they burn they can leave a residue or create ‘gunk’. These formations can, in turn, block connective tubes inside the heaters. In most cases the cost at repairing a heater blocked like this is more expensive than just buying a new heater.

This goes double for fan-assist heaters like the Inverter Heater. In these mains-powered heaters, the formation of grime can obstruct important tubes, cause the heater to take incorrect internal readings and put the whole unit at risk.

Sulphur

Tozane produces 5 parts of sulphur per million when burned. In contrast, Kerosene produces 1,300% more. I don’t need to tell you, but that’s a whole lot more. 

Inhaling larger quantities of Sulphur over long durations can lead to nose and throat irritation. Continued exposure can cause nausea, vomiting and stomach pain. It’s a no-brainer to choose the one that produces the least amount, when burned!3

Important safety details

Fuel can be a hazardous material if not handled correctly.

• Do not mix Tozane with other fuels
• Store your Tozane in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and with no open flames or other potential heat sources.
• Do not leave your fuel pump inside the drum when not in use. This can lead to external grit or dirt being introduced into the container, rendering it unusable.
• Always ensure the cap is correctly applied when closing.
• Only use paraffin heaters in areas with good ventilation and in locations with carbon monoxide alarms.
• Fuel should not be handed by minors, or left in locations that are frequented by pets.
